Abd El Rab Edrees was born in 1946 in Mekla, Yemen to a Yemeni father and a Somali mother.

Abd El Rab holds a dual citizenship, Yemeni and Saudi. He is a must in the Arab musical scene. He studied music in Cairo with the lute as his instrument of choice. He participated in the program Voice of the Arabs, and directed the Kuwaiti Conservatory of Music in the 70s.

He returned to Cairo and obtained his Ph.D. from the Higher Institute of Music in 1988. Abd El Rab Edrees is an outstanding lutenist. His compositions written for other artists are numerous.

To name a few: "Ya Ibn El Halal" (sung by Samira Said), "Aweda" (sung by Abade Al Johar), "Al Hob Wa Al Wafa"(sung by Majida El Roumi) ... and many others! Of his most famous songs: "Lila law Baki Lila", "Enta El Kol", "Dounia Rawaa", "Ya Zein Hobak", "La Yaghorak El Madhar"…
