Abu Bakr Salim as known as Abu Bakr Salim Blefkih, a Yemeni music icon and legend born in the city of Hadramout, in 1939.

Abu Bakr is a unique son to his parents. He left his tribe Trym to Aden at a young age in quest of meeting musicians, composers, and media figures. Indeed, he met the poet Lotfi Jaafar Aman, the singer Ahmed Ben Ahmed Qasim, the artists Saad Abdullah and Morshed Neji.

Most of Abu Bakr Salem’s songs fall under the Hadrami style. His voice and presence on stage gave him a particular success in Yemen and the Arab world, especially in the neighboring gulf countries. Abu Bakr’s fame started through the waves of Aden Radio with the song “Ya Ward Mahla Jamalak”.

In 1967, Abu Bakr Salem left Aden to reside in Jeddah and participate in the founding of a music movement called “the khaliji songs” or the Arabian Gulf songs, all along with great pioneers like Talal Meddah, Tariq Abdul Hakim, and Mohamed Abdou. The son of Yemen is a reference in the Yemeni music directory, and also the Arab Repertoire.

He also inspired many young artists all over the Arab nation. In 2007, he released two albums under the label Rotana and entitled “Ahtafel Bejrah”, “Meshwar El Aheba”, and in 2010, he released the album “Daraoob Moughalagh”.
