Ahlam is an Emirati artist born in Abu Dhabi, on February 13th, 1969.

Her real name is Ahlam Ali Al Hazim Al Shaamsi. Her father, who was a popular singer, is Emirati whereas her mother is Bahraini. She was brought up in Bahrain, before going back to Emirates. At a young age, Ahlam already started her artistic career as she was singing in her school’s plays and in private parties, as well as on national patriotic occasions.

This is how the Kuwaiti music composer Anwar Abdullah noticed her. This discovery led Ahlam to sign a record deal with ‘Funoon Al Emarat’, an Emirati Gulf-Music production company. In 1995, she released her first album ‘Ahlam 1995’with the assistance of Anwar Abdullah. The album was very successful, especially the hit song ‘A’hbuk Moot’, which she dedicated to her late father. Ahlam shot 5 video clips for five songs of her first album.

After the release of the album, the Saudi singer Mohamed Abdo declared that Ahlam is the Gulf voice. Throughout her career, Ahlam released many albums such as: ‘Ma’aa Al Salamah’ in 1996, ‘Mekhtelf’ in 2000, ‘Ahsan’ in 2003, and ‘Hatha Ana’ in 2009.
