Ahmad Fathi is a Yemeni artist, who was born in Al Hodayda, which lies on the coast of the Red Sea in Yemen.
When he was eight, he became interested in the lute instrument.
At the age of twelve, he became a brilliant artist in his school, following in the footsteps of Yemeni and Arab artists. He was influenced by the most famous lute performers in both Yemen and other Arab countries of that period. After finishing his studies in the preparatory stage, he joined the “High Institute of Arab Music” in Cairo.
Ahmad Fathi was awarded many prizes for being the best lute performer in many festivals all over the world. Indeed, in London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, Ahmad successfully performed with the lute not only his own compositions, but also Yemeni and Arabic songs, and the concerto of “Aranjway Rodrigo”.
He took part in the Arab Music Festival of 1994 and 1998 in the Cairo Opera House. In 2005, he participated in the Arab lute Festival of "Sultanate Oman". In January 2006, Ahmad participated in the Doha Festival.
In 2004,the artist was honored in "Sanaa", Yemen where he performed some of his own compositions for that occasion.
Ahmad also took part in the Dubai Lyric Festival in 1998, the Nagran Lyric Festival in 2003 and the Ganadebia Festival in 2004.
