Latifa Arfaoui is a Tunisian singer born in la Mennouba on February 14,1961.

She has been very active since her childhood. Indeed, she was a member of her school chorus and she participated in all the ceremonies for children. In 1978, she made her first appearance on TV in the TV show ‘the Club of Talents’ and won the first prize for performing one of Oum Kalthoum’s songs. Later on, Latifa was selected by the Ministry of Culture to represent Tunisia in the Third Arab Youth Music Festival in Iraq.

There, Latifa performed Oum Kalthoum’s song ‘Ana Fi Intiddarak’. Latifa carried on her studies but she also took music lessons. At that time she was singing with the artist Oussama Farhat who was in the same school as her. Later on, she met the great musician Mohamed Sriti who started to teach her music on a daily basis.

After that, Latifa travelled to Cairo and started studying in the Institute of Arab Music. As soon as she arrived in Cairo, she caught the attention and admiration of the icon Mohamed Abdela Wahab and also Baligh Hamdi. Both of them encouraged her to build her career. In 1986, she sang ‘Aktar Men Rouhi’ which was written by Mohamed Abdel Wahab and composed by Ammar cherii.

After that, Latifa released several successful albums including: ‘Massa Al Jamal’ in 1986, ‘Aktehr Men Rouhi’ in 1988, ‘Hobak Hadi’ in 1993, ‘Maaloumet Akida’ in 2007, and ‘Atthadda’in 2009. In 2001, Latifa got the leading female role in the movie ‘Soukout hanssawwar’ directed by Yossef Shahin. In 2004, she took part in the musical ‘Hokm elroyyan’ written by Mansour Rahabani.

Latifa is one of the first artists to release video clips. Throught her career, Latifa won several awards such as: The BEST Arab Singer in the Arab TV Music Festival in 1994, The World music Award in Las Vegas for the Sales and success of her album ‘Ma Trouhch’ in 2004, and The Golden Murex for the Best Arab Singer both in 2003 and 2004.
