Ragheb Alama is a Lebanese singer and composer born on 07 June 1962, in the town of Ghobeiry in Beirut, Lebanon.

His parents are Wafeeqa and Subhi Alama, and he is the middle child of three sisters and four brothers. At the age of eight, Ragheb started taking lessons in playing on the oud instrument, and he participated in a live radio program. His artistic debut was in the 80s when he received the platinum award through his participation in the Lebanese talent show Studio El Fan. Afterwards, Ragheb released his first single entitled "Boukra Byebrom Doulabik" which was very successful.

He continued on releasing yearly albums, and was famous for hit singles like "Ya Rayt", "An Jadd" and "Alby Eshekha", the first Arabic song in history to be shot into a video clip. In 1996, Ragheb married Jihan Al-Ali who gave birth to his two sons, Khaled in 1997, and Louai in 2001. In 2000, Ragheb recorded the duet "Betgheib Betrouh" with the artist Elissa, it was the beginning of her success. Ragheb continued on receiving success after another with the release of his chart-topping albums like "Saharouny El Leil" in 2001.

In 2003, Ragheb released the album "Tab Leih" under the recording label Alam El Fan, and the title track occupied the number one position in the charts for several weeks. The album featured the famous Iranian-Armenian singer and songwriter Andy Madadian on a song entitled "Yalla Ya Shabab". At the end of 2004, Ragheb released the album "El Hob El Kebir", which included the hit single "Nasini El Donya", and the music video for the title track was shot in Malaysia in 2005 with the director Wissam Smyara under a huge production.

In 2006, Ragheb participated in the pro-celebrity formula one race in Bahrain, as an introductory show to the competition. He came in the third place and signed an agreement with the formula one management to participate in the next race, to be held in Shanghai in China. In 2008, Ragheb released the album "Bashaak" and one year later, he got the platinum certification from Virgin Megastores Dubai for its record sales. The album was produced by his own company Backstage Production and included the hits "Yighib" and "Ser Hobbi".

In 2010, Ragheb produced and released the environment-themed album "Seneen Rayha" which included the number one singles "Seneen Rayha" and "Betfell". Ragheb was the first Arabic artist to team up with the International coffee chain Starbucks. His album "Seneen Rayha" was sold in all the branches of Starbucks Coffee along with a B-side compilation album entitled "Starz Vol. 1", which included the hit collaboration with Shakira "Good Stuff (Remix)".

In addition to his work in the musical field, Ragheb has adopted an environmental cause for the album "Seneen Rayha" after being elected as the United Nations Ambassador of Climate Change. Ragheb has won two Murex d'Or awards and several other prizes during his career. He is one of the most commercially successful singers in the Arab world. In 2011, Ragheb was elected as the head jury for the new MBC show Arab Idol, a remake of the number one show American Idol.

Joining Ragheb on the panel were the Emirati singer Ahlam and the music producer Hassan El Shafei. The Arab Idol team began its auditioning tour around the Middle East and the UK in September 2011. Throughout his career, Ragheb has been contacted by several international companies to represent them in their many marketing campaigns, like The United Nations, Starbucks, Mercedes-Benz, Samsung, The Malaysian Ministry of Tourism, The Malaysia Airlines, The Middle East Airlines, Persol, and The Pearl-Qatar.
