Walid Mohsen Al Shami is known as Walid Al Shami is an Iraqi artist born on February 20, 1977, in the City of Baghdad.
Walid joined the Iraqi music conservatory, where he studied the Iraqi music scales, the Arab notes, and the instrument of Oud. As soon as he graduated from the conservatory, he was encouraged and accompanied by his brother, the singer Raed Al Shami, to be oriented later on towards the music world. He started with the song “Ya Bouya Mushkila”, which he composed for Majid Al Mohandis.
In 1998, he moved to Amman, Jordan, to work there with his brothers Saadoun and Raed Al Shami in music studios, and then he spent few years travelling between Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan for the purpose of promotion. In 2003, the artist moved to Dubai and met the artist Hatim Al Iraqi. They both collaborated in the hit single “Al Mohager”, which made the official start for Walid.
He later met the singer Rashed El Majed, and collaborated with him in the titles “Wassya” and “Salamat”. This co-work made of him a great collaborating composer and artist. Indeed, he composed for Abdul Majeed Abdullah, Fayez Al Saeed, Asil Abo Bakr, Hussain Al Jassmi, Nawal, Rashed Al Fares, Aeda Elminhaly, and many others.
Walid took a singing career due to the support of the artist Rashed El Majed. In this context, he released a duet with Fayez Al Saeed, then his private successful album of 2008 “Mosibah”. He is today considered as one of the most successful composers and singers on the Arab music scene.
